Obituary

Richard L. Pollitt, Sr., 81, of Crystal Falls, passed away, Friday September 2, 2011, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born September 20, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana son of the late Lloyd F. and Hazel (Morningstar) Pollitt. On July 13, 1984, he married the former Janice Krieger at the United Methodist Church in Niles. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign War Tufts-Rondon Post No. 2891 and the American Legion Louis Bowman Post No. 87, Crystal Falls. He was a retired pressman for Simplicity Pattern Company where he had worked for 43 years and was a 20 year resident of Crystal Falls having moved here from Buchanan. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls and enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Janice Pollitt, Crystal Falls; one son, Richard "Rick" (Peggy) Pollitt, Thayne, Wyo.; two grandchildren, Melissa and Megan; one brother, Gerald (Joann) Pollitt, Buchanan; one step-daughter, Crystal Johnson, South Bend; other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Nate Reed will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The East Side Veterans Council will conduct a Pass-In-Review ceremony Friday 10:45 a.m. at the church.
