Crystal Falls- Richard (Tussy) W. Peterson, age 93, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born February 11, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Edwin and Ruth (Strandein) Peterson. Richard grew up in Crystal Falls, Mich. and was a graduate of Forest Park High School. Tussy was 100% Swede! He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Michigan Tech University and Northwestern. Richard was the most valuable player on the Michigan Tech football team in 1949-1950. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Richard was united in marriage to the beautiful Barbara A. Lundwall. She preceded him in death. Tussy worked for M. A. Hanna Company as mining engineer for 30 years in Iron River, Pilot Knob, Mo and later around the country. Survivors include his son, Richard W. Peterson Jr., New York, and two grandsons, Louis E. and Joseph N. Peterson. In accordance with Richard's wishes, private family services will be held.
