Crystal Falls-Richard L. Kirkpatrick, age 88, of Crystal Falls, Mich., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 28, 2019, at UP Health System, Marquette, Mich.

He was born June 9, 1930, in Goodman, Wis., the son of the late Marie Kalkofen-Sewczyk. Richard grew up in Goodman and was a graduate of Goodman High School. He went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy, stationed in the South Pacific where he was involved in nuclear weapons testing during Operation Ivy and Operation Castle, where he received unit citations. On November 7, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Medford, Wis., he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Hoffman. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2009. Richard was a screw machine set up operator for 34 years at the Allen Bradley Company in Milwaukee, retiring in 1991 where he and his wife moved to Crystal Falls.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Richard enjoyed caring for his fruit trees and any time spent in the forest.

Survivors include one daughter Laurie Richter, Waukesha, Wis.; four sons, Kerry (Sara) Kirkpatrick, Iron River, Mich., David (Theresa) Kirkpatrick, Muskego, Wis., Scott (Janell) Kirkpatrick, Little Suamico, Wis., and Andy (Alissa) Kirkpatrick, Green Bay, Wis.; Papa to ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ronald (Carol) Kirkpatrick, Kernersville, North Carolina and John (Marie) Sewczyk Jr., Goodman, Wis.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Kalkofen-Sewczyk, step-father, John Sewczyk Sr. and his wife, MaryAnn.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Iron River Bible Church, Iron River, Mich. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Kraig Tass and Pastor Dan Waters will co-officiate. Burial will be held in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, Mich. in the Spring.
