Obituary

Niagara- Richard E. Cocquyt, age 87, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, Wis. He was born August 27, 1932, in Kingsville, Canada, son of the late, Emil and Ernestine (Zeop) Cocquyt. Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He was united in marriage to Inez Raymond. Richard worked as a police officer for the City of Niagara for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara, the Knights of Columbus, Niagara, the Niagara Lions Club, and past member of Oak Crest Golf Course. Survivors include his loving wife, Inez Cocquyt, Niagara, Wis.; two sons, Richard Cocquyt Jr., Orland, Fla. and Donald Cocquyt, Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Cheryl (Perry) Ellis, Kingsford, Mich.; one brother, William "Bill" (Theresa) Allington, Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tracy (Brandon) Rutter and Taryn (Brad) Chatel, and Marie Cocquyt; three great-grandchildren, Addison and Claire Rutter and Ava Chatel; many nieces and nephews, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; two best friends, Kerry Grippen, Niagara and Shorty Delongchamp, Kingsford, Mich.; and his bonus grandson, Brad Butler, Niagara. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and James Allington; and one sister, Jean Allington. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019, 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara, Wis. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery. The VFW Cretton Tutas Post 136 of Niagara and the American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post 50 of Iron Mountain will accord military honors at graveside.
