Richard L. Absolon, 78, of Crystal Falls, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born January 6, 1931, Chicago, Ill. son of the late Louis and Lillian (Rech) Absolon. Richard lived in Chicago and graduated from Kelly High School Class of 1949. He married the former Margene Schmoldt on May 26, 1956, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Elgin, Ill.
Richard and Margene lived in Chicago until 1968, when they moved to Crystal Falls. He was a self-employed carpenter and worked at Crystal Lumber and Hebert Construction Company. Richard was a member of the Carpenters Union for 57 years and the National Trappers Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margene Absolon; two sons, Randall (Sabrina) Absolon, Benton City, Wash., Daniel (Cynthia) Absolon, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Sandra (David) Anderson, Aurora, Wis.; one brother,
Robert (Marilyn) Absolon, South Elgin, Ill.; four grandsons, Alfred and Richard Absolon, Andrew and Benjamin Anderson; one step-granddaughter, Heather Cooper; two step-grandsons, Jason and Scott Mendoza; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The memorial service will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
