Obituary

Rex O. Harris, age 76, of Crystal Falls, died Friday, August 25, 2006, at the Iron Mountain Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iron Mountain. He was born August 18, 1930, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Clifford and Linda (Frainer) Harris. Rex was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a Life Member of the Tufts-Rondon Post No. 2891, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crystal Falls, and a 33-year member of the American Legion, Louis Bowman Post No. 87, Crystal Falls. Rex was an auto technician and mechanic for the former Johnson-Lehto Chevrolet in Crystal Falls for many years and had previously worked in area mines for 25 years as a diamond driller. He also worked with his step-father, Andrew Ross, as a woodsman and logger. His hobbies and interests included attending the Iola Car Show, Logging Congress, local county fairs, working on cars, and being an active member of his veteran organizations. Survivors include, one son, Glenn (Kimberly) Nicholson, Nampa, Idaho; two daughters, Peggy (Ronald) Cherney, Oconto Falls, Wis., Lisa (Kirk) Jarman, Fish Creek, Wis.; one grandson, Glenn Nicholson, Jr.; one grand-daughter, Amy (Chad) Moll; one brother, Armond (Sharon) Ross, Grand Marais; and two sisters, Adeena (Tom) Jankowski, Sussex, Wis., and Andrea Ross, Milwaukee, Wis. He is further survived by, one aunt, Esther Bandaccari, Crystal Falls; three nephews, David, Darren (Melony), and Dale (Amy) Ross; one niece, Kristine (Paul) Budiac; two great-nieces, Jessica and Corrissa Ross; and two great-nephews, Daniel and Jesse Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Andrew Ross; one nephew, Michael Jankowski; one uncle, David Bandaccari; and one aunt, Dorothy Roberts. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. There will be a Pass In Review service at 11:00 a.m., and a memorial service at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls with military rites accorded by the East Side Veterans Council.
