Norway Township: Renate M. Williams, age 48 of Norway Township, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at her home. She was born January 18, 1957, in Gunzburg, Germany, the daughter of Dominikus and Magdalena Kreher. She was raised in Germany and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1976. On December 28, 1976, she married Gary Williams in Colorado Springs, where they lived for five years. After living in many states, they settled in the Upper Peninsula in 1996. She was employed at the Garrett Eye Center for the past 12 years, where she enjoyed working with staff and patients. Her hobbies included endurance horseback riding, skiing, traveling, kayaking, and walking her dog Trooper. Survivors include her mother Magdalena of Germany, her husband Command Sergeant Major (U.S. Army Retired) Gary W. Williams, their daughter Michelle Sleik, and son-in-law Mick Sleik. Visitation will be held Sunday May 15, from 2-4pm at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. A memorial service will be Sunday 4pm at the church. Rev. James Danielson will officiate.
