Regina McLain, 92, of Wausau, Wis. formerly of Florence, Wis., passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, at Stone Crest Residence, Wausau. She was born February 5, 1917, in Wausau, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Gajewski) Przybocki. Regina grew up in Wausau and graduated from St. Michaels School, Wausau. After graduating, Regina moved with her family to Armstrong Creek, Wis. and later to Chicago where she worked in a variety of jobs. Regina married Walter Abramowski in Armstrong Creek and they lived in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1949, and Regina moved back to Armstrong with her two young daughters. She married Roger McLain in Armstrong Creek and they moved to Fence then Florence, where they raised their family. Roger preceded her in death in 1987. Regina prided herself on being an independent woman and held many jobs throughout her life. She worked for many years at Haberkorn's Supermarket in Florence and retired from there in 1977. Regina was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Florence, and a former member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She enjoyed polka dancing and loved to tell stories about going to dances at the big ballrooms in Chicago. In her later years, Regina enjoyed doing word puzzles, reading, crocheting special occasion items for her family, and most of all, spending time with her family. Regina is survived by her five children, Connie (Bob) Michlig, Wausau, Marci (Randy) Morrison, Middleton, Wis., Mike (Julie) McLain, Palmer, Alaska, Cassie (Joel Braatz) McLain, Wausau, Dennis (Tina Mitchell) McLain, Fort Atkinson, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Dave (Julie) Michlig, Sue (Scott) Huntington, Sandy (Brian) Kraimer, Tom (Denise) Michlig, Molly (Marty) Walker, Luke McLain, Hannah Braatz, Sam Braatz, Derek McLain; nine great-grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, Andy, Abby, Molly, Ellie, Brianne, Cassidy, Geneva; three sisters, Louise Mikolajczyk, Margaret Jacubiec, Elizabeth Kowalkowski, all of Armstrong Creek; and her in-laws, Colleen and Pete Kasakaitas, Fumiko McLain, Lloyd and Lois McLain and Loren McLain. Besides her parents and her husbands, Walter Abramowksi and Roger McLain, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Mazarny, Francis Jakubiec; and an infant brother.
