Obituary

Quinta Frances Nardelli, 97, of Iron Mountain, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford. She was born December 17, 1910, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Panfilo and Mary Grace (DiMatteo) Caruso. Quinta was raised in Iron Mountain and attended school in Iron Mountain. She married Louis Nardelli on June 24, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2002. Quinta, along with her husband, made Iron Mountain their home. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an active member of the Italian Women's Club. Quinta enjoyed cooking Italian food, gardening, and she also belonged to the Zambon's bowling team for a few years. In 2007, Quinta was named resident of the month at ManorCare Health Services. While at Manor Care, she enjoyed playing bingo, kings in the corner, cribbage, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She was a great people person, always smiling. Quinta loved her family and was always willing to help others. She and Louis met at a dance and they both enjoyed dancing for many years. Quinta is survived by one daughter, Judi (Raymond) King, Lynchburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Jill E. King, Charlotte, N.C., Gregory (Malia) King, Lynchburg; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Liam King. Besides her parents and husband, Louis, Quinta was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald, and four brothers, William, James, Joseph, and Ernest. Quinta's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at ManorCare Health Services for the wonderful care she received during her stay and to the many friends she made, for their kindness and companionship. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2008, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered Friday, 12:00 PM at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 12:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain. Donations may be made in Quinta's memory to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church landscaping fund.
