Obituary

Priscilla A. "Percy" Porter, age 95, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center in Florence. Priscilla was born on May 6, 1911, in Channing, Michigan, daughter of the late William and Laura (Robichaud) Porter. Percy was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence, the Altar Society, Young at Heart, volunteered at the Florence Villa for many years, active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and she enjoyed playing cards. She worked as a factory worker and climbed the Buck-eye tower, well into her 70's to fire watch for the Wisconsin DNR in Florence. Percy helped build the Florence community by selling one ticket at a time. Percy is survived by many nieces, nephews, a special friend Claire Landry, as well as other close friends. Besides her parents, Percy was preceded in death by, one brother, John "Burnell" Porter, and one sister, Beulah Strand. Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wisconsin. Percy's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Florence Villa for their many years of caring and attention that was given to her.
