Phyllis M. Anderson, 89, of Stambaugh, Mich., passed away Friday, October 3, 2008, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers, Mich.. Phyllis was born March 12, 1919, in Stambaugh, daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Gentalini) Melchiori. She attended Stambaugh High School. She married George "Winnie" Anderson on May 9, 1936, and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2000. Phyllis was a devout Catholic and very devoted to her family. She was a member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 Auxiliary for 58 years. Phyllis loved to needlepoint, watch mysteries on TV and reading love stories. She also loved to visit with family and friends over coffee and cookies. She is survived by one son, Richard (Mary) Anderson, Elkhart Lake, Wis.; two granddaughters, Gaye (Ashley) Thomas, Iron Mountain, Mich., Molly (Michael) Lorenz, Sheboygan, Wis.; and one grandson, Mark Anderson, New York. Phyllis was preceded by nine brothers; two sisters; one daughter, Anita L. Lehtinen, 1990; two great-grandsons, Matthew D. Underwood, 1988, and Dallas R. Underwood, 1986.
