Philip J. Truel, Niagara, Wis., formerly of Iron River, Mich., passed away peacefully Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara, after recently celebrating his 100th birthday with family and friends.
He was born February 27, 1910, in Stambaugh, Mich., son of the late Andrew and Ursella (Flaschberger) Treul.
Phil was employed by M.A. Hanna Mine as a policeman for many years before retiring in 1967. He was a Jack-of-all-Trades and could repair just about anything. Phil loved to tell stories, play cribbage, and share his laughter and love with those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Truel, Maryhill Manor; his son, Ken (Jan) Truel, Spread Eagle, Wis.; his daughter, Jan (Bill Long) Truel, Duluth, Minn.; step-son, Allen (Lisa) Mclean, Iron River, Mich.; step-daughters, Rita (Don) Gunville, Crivitz, Wis., Mary Olson, Port Lavaca, Tex.; a sister, Rose; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanore Truel; a son, James Truel; a brother, Andrew; three sisters, Gertrude, Dorothy, and Mary.

Visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, Mich. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Norman Clisch will officiate. Burial will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Stambaugh, Mich.
