Obituary

Iron Mountain: Peter L. Fascinelli, age 79, of Iron Mountain, died June 9, 2005, as his home following a battle with lung cancer which started in 2001. He was born June 22, 1925, in Nurenburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Pietro Facinelli and Mary ( Nardelli) Facinelli Ravanelli. He grew up in Vulcan, Michigan and graduated from Vulcan High School. He served in the US Army. He was united in marriage to the former Elaine Cerasoli on October 20, 1951, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. After working at various jobs including the Dickinson County Road Commission for almost ten years, he obtained a job at the US Postal Service. Peter retired after 30 years of service both as a mail carrier and window clerk. An active individual in the community, Peter was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish for over 50 years. He served on several area boards including the Dickinson County Fair Board, the Dickinson County Library Board, the Northside Cable Board, and the City of Iron Mountain Tax Review Board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Peter loved the annual fall deer hunt, to fish small trout streams and was a member of the Edwards Chevrolet bowling team for many years. Peter is survived by his wife, Elaine; one daughter, Mary Jean (Chuck) Eifler, DePere, WI. one granddaughter, Dr. Sandra Sjoberg, Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mary Meyer, Waukesha, WI, Alice Wilson, Waukesha, WI; one brother, Eugene (Barbara) Ravanelli, Milwaukee, WI; two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Hanson, Kingsford, MI, Ann Marie Rodman, Kingsford, MI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William Ravanelli; brothers-in-law, Raymond Meyer, George Wilson, Vernon Hanson, and Paul Rodman; and two nephews Robert Wilson and Dennis Hanson. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Jaslowski from Green Bay Oncology Ltd., the Oncology nursing staff at Dickinson Memorial Hospital, Marquette General Home Health and Hospice and Dickinson County Memorial Hospice. Visitation will be Monday, June 13, from 4:00 - 8:00p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Members of The Knights of Columbus with recite the rosary 7:30p.m Monday. Prayers will be Tuesday at 9:30a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
