Obituary

Peter J. Albarello, "Pete Bacco", 76, of Crystal Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1935, in Crystal Falls, where he was a lifelong resident. He married Connie Davidson on July 11, 1959, and they celebrated 52 years together this past summer. Peter operated and then owned Bacco Motor Sales for over 40 years in Crystal Falls. He was a well-known Ford dealer in the area, continuing on with the successful business practices, work ethic, and love of community instilled in him by his father and mother. Peter graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1953, and he attended Northern Michigan University and Michigan State University. He played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and he continued his love of sports while playing in baseball and softball leagues in adulthood. Peter was deemed "Top Wop" and led his fellow Italians for many years in the annual Wop-Swede game at the Bass Festival. During his career as a Ford dealer, he served the community of Crystal Falls with great pride. He wanted every customer to be satisfied with all areas of service at Bacco Motor Sales, so he made this a priority; as a result he won numerous President's Awards, Chairman's Awards, and Distinguished Achievement Awards. He was fortunate to develop strong friendships with many other Ford dealers from the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. Peter was a lifelong member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Sagola Sportsmen's Club and spent a great deal of time in the woods, at his camp, and at "the farm". He and Connie enjoyed the trip of a lifetime when they traveled to visit all his cousins in Vicenza, Italy, in 2001. He loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, especially watching them play sports and be involved with music. He is survived by his wife Connie (Davidson) Albarello, Crystal Falls; his three daughters, Patrice (Roy) Deutschmann of South Lyon, Mich., Jeanne (Bobby) Watts of Elcho, Wis., Mary Beth (Jon) Kingman of Comstock Park, Mich.; six grandchildren, Maria and Theresa Watts, Alexa and Kurt Deutschmann, Matthew and Bradley Kingman; one sister, Josie Nettell of Omaha, Nebr.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Terry and Diane Davidson of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Bill and Kay Davidson of Granger, Ind.; many nieces and nephews, and a wealth of wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ann Albarello of Crystal Falls, and brother-in-law Jim Nettell and nephew Mark Nettell, both of Omaha. The visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forest Park Athletic Department, the Friends of Batawagama, or Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
