Pelto M."Dell" Wallo, 86, of Iron Mountain passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Florence, Wis.
Dell was born on March 19, 1925 in Amasa, Mich., daughter of the late William and Ethel Mae (Palmer) Shoemaker. Dell attended school in Amasa. She moved to Chicago where she worked as a cook and babysitter until 1957 when she moved to Iron River. In 1993 she moved to Iron Mountain where she helped many elderly people with their personal errands. Dell enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo and cards. Dell was a very caring and giving lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three brothers, Stanley (Shirley) Shoemaker, Chicago, Ill., Dick (Ruth) Shoemaker, Grand Rapids, Minn., Vernie (Belinda) Smith, Iron Mountain; one sister, Obelia Hansen, Daggett, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dell is preceded by one sister Aleska Pearl Shoemaker; one brother, Otis Smith.
Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2011, 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. A Memorial Service will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Iron River City Cemetery, Iron River, Mich. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
