Paul Howard Wendt, 71, of Crystal Falls, formerly of Marquette County, MI, died in his home

the evening of Sunday April 13, 2025 surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Paul was born in Marquette, MI on April 20, 1953 to the late Howard and Dorothy (Spitz) Wendt.

After attending Negaunee High School, Paul joined the US Army in 1971 where he served

honorably for two years before joining the Army National Guard where he served honorably until his retirement in 1995.

Paul married Phyllis (Juchemich) on October 18, 1975 in Richmond Township, MI where they

spent many happy years raising their children together.

After working independently for several years, he worked as a laborer, cement finisher, and

finally, a foreman for Menze Construction in Marquette until his retirement in 2006. He was a

member of the Laborers International Union Local 1329.

Above all else, Paul loved spending time with his family. As an avid outdoorsman, he especially

enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with them. Whether it be camping with his siblings and

their families, surf fishing in Florida, time spent at hunting camp, and/or exploring the Upper

Peninsula on side by sides/pontoon boat, he enjoyed it all. He also enjoyed the occasional

casino run and creating things at the whims of his family.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy (Spitz) Wendt; sister,

Dyane (Bruce) Hill; and son-in-law, Michael Leach.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Wendt of Crystal Falls, MI; daughter, Holly Leach of Little

Lake, MI; son Jason (Jeri) Wendt of Amasa, MI; grandchildren, Cody (Hannah) Wendt of

Bancroft, MI and Thomas and Maya Wendt of Amasa, MI; sister, Sharon (Patrick) Kennedy

of Negaunee, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
