Paul A. Santi, 82, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at his home.
He was born December 29, 1929, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Enrico and Elizabeth (Cavalieri) Santi. Paul grew up on the north side of Iron Mountain. He married Renja Rosenlund on March 24, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1997.
At age 15, Paul entered the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he traveled the country. He worked in many of the local mines, was a merchant marine in the Great Lakes, worked in construction tunneling, and was a local businessman. He also worked at Groveland Mine as a boiler operator, retiring after 15 years there.
Paul was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting, watching all sports, especially the Packers, and wintering in Florida Paul especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Paul will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by five sons, Clifford Santi, Crystal Falls, Ken Santi, Crystal Falls, Michael Santi, Venice Beach, Calif., Richard (Lisa) Santi, Crystal Falls, Raymond (Renee) Santi, Thompson, Mich.; two daughters, Shirley (Ray) Gagnon, Milwaukee, Wis., Carol Hebert, Crystal Falls; one brother, Joe (Janice) Santi, Iron Mountain; one sister, Lorraine Keller, Iron Mountain; fifteen grandchildren, Sheri (Paul ), Christopher, Cindy (Wayne), Trisha, Jaime, Leonard, Robin (Mark), Jesse, Josh, Toni Lu, Paul, Zachary, Mason, Ella, Brynn; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a special friend, Bridget Noch; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by one brother, James Santi.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.
