Paul A. Lownik, 86, of Wausaukee, Wis., passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich.
He was born June 29, 1923, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Frank and Adeline (Leaveck) Lownik. Paul married Elizabeth "Betty" White on April 19, 1947, in Racine, Wis.
Paul spent many summers in Florence, Wis., with his grandparents helping on the family farm. At a young age, he moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where he graduated from high school. Paul and Betty resided in the Milwaukee area until moving to West Bend, Wis., in 1974. They owned and operated Lownik's Restaurant in West Bend until selling the business in 1992. In 1997, Paul and Betty moved to Pembine, Wis., and later moved to Wausaukee.
He was a member of the American Legion, Cazenovia, Wis., and the American Legion Post No. 461, Pembine. Paul was also a devoted 4H leader for many years. He loved hunting and woodworking.
Paul is survived by his wife, Betty Lownik, Wausaukee; a son, Thomas Lownik, Wausaukee; two daughters, Donna (Gerald) Frohlich, Grand Forks, N.D., Virginia (Harold) Wolk, West Bend; a brother, Frank (Joan) Lownik, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mary (Chet) Worzala, Milwaukee, Jean Lewinski, Waukesha, Wis.; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Jim, John, Bob Lownik; a brother, Patrick Lownik; and a sister, Audrey Ludwiczak.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. Funeral service will follow Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Pembine Post No. 461 following the funeral service at the funeral home.
