Obituary

Paul L. Hambel, 70, of Aurora, Wis., passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich. He was born December 22, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Lester Hambel and Grace (Rush) Hambel. Paul was raised and attended school in Chicago. He served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne from 1960 until 1962, when he was honorably discharged. Paul resided in Tennessee for a short period of time before moving to Milwaukee, Wis., where he lived from 1965 to 1978. He moved to Aurora in 1978, and worked for Grede Foundry in both Milwaukee and Iron Mountain for over 30 years. Paul retired in 2005. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp and playing pool. He participated in many leagues including darts, cribbage and bowling. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sue Hambel, Kingsford, Mich.; one son, Michael (Ellen) Hambel, Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Debbie (Dean) Fagon, Texas; two brothers, David Hambel, Daniel Hambel; three sisters, Barbara (Ray) Thorpe, Chicago, Ginger McLaughlin, Arkansas, Rosemarie (Nels) Nys, Florida; four grandchildren, Grace, Aaron, and Gabriella Hambel, Donya Fagon; one god-daughter, Gia Kacalo; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2010, 10:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, Mich.
