Paul James Blomquist, 47, of Iron Mountain, died on Friday, October 26, 2007.
Paul was born in Iron Mountain on January 27, 1960, son of James and Bernadine (Andreini) Blomquist. He was a life-long resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1978, where he participated on the golf team. He was also a competitive ski-jumper at Pine Mountain and throughout the Midwest as a member of the Kiwanis Ski Club.
Paul attended Bay College and Northern Michigan University. He developed an active construction industry career over the past 25 years. Paul co-founded and presently operated ECO Building Systems and SnowGrip, a snow retention system.
He was a long-time member of Pine Grove Country Club and served on its Board of Directors. Paul was also a member of Timberstone Golf Course.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, particularly his two daughters and son, Austin. His camp, the Ponderosa, was a very special place for him and he was a passionate Packer fan.
In addition to his parents, Paul is survived by one son, Austin of Iron Mountain; two daughters, Tyler and Carli; a grandson, Eden of Atlanta, Georgia. Paul also leaves his three brothers, Mark (Lisa) Blomquist, John (Cathy) Blomquist, David (Nicole) Blomquist; one sister, Jean (Michael) Constantini; many nieces and nephews. His friends and family will miss him and his unmistakable smile and cheerful nature.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Beatrice Andreini and Carl and Mabel Blomquist; and his cousin and best friend, Joe Brouillette.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 29, 2007, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, with a gathering of friends to follow at Pine Grove Country Club. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Andreini, David Maule, Gary Pedo, Jeff Jayne, Tom Rae, and Gene LaFave.
The family requests that flowers be omitted, a memorial will be established in Paul's memory.
