Pasquale "Alex" Bortolini, age 94, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his home. He was born April 17, 1912, in Austria, son of the late Peter and Frances Bortolini. On February 13, 1940, he married Alice Thomas in Crystal Falls. She preceded him in death on August 25, 1999. Alex was a miner in the area and retired from the Sherwood Mine of Iron River. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a member of the Sagola Sportsman's Club and the Chippewa Snow Kats. Survivors include three sons, Ray (Nora) Bortolini, Crystal Falls, Angelo (Jean) Bortolini, Green Bay, Wis., Jerry (Annette) Bortolini, Crystal Falls; two daughters, Rose (Al Hill) Bortolini and Alice Martwick, both of Crystal Falls; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Private Funeral Services will be held at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Rev. Fr. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
