Orville James Hatle, 100, of Iron Mountain, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
He was born February 23, 1910, on the family farm, in Hartland, Minn., son of the late Nels Ole and Clara (Sibilruud) Hatle. The 2nd of seven children, he attended Freeborn County Schools and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Orville served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945. He married B. Antoinette "Toni" Holm on February 7, 1942, in Duluth, Minn.; she preceded him in death on May 30, 1996.
Orville, a registered forester, worked for Kimberly Clark Corp. woodlands division for 27 years, retiring in 1973. He remained very active in his senior years enjoying his family and the outdoors that he loved. Orville was a master fly fisherman, an avid hunter, and was proud of the fact that he, armed with his chainsaw, provided firewood for the family cabin fireplaces for years yet to come.
He leaves three daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Tinti, Jean and Patrick Sullivan, Ann and Mike Moraska; seven grandchildren, Katy (Daniel) Juckel, Sean (Sarah) Sullivan, Gabriel (JackiAnn) Tinti, Ryan (Megan) Sullivan, Benjamin Tinti, Anthony (Megan) Moraska, Michelle (Jake Carpenter) Moraska; nine great-grandchildren, Kiley Juckel, Abigail Juckel, Jack Sullivan, Phoebe Sullivan, Zachary Juckel, Sam Sullivan, Kieran Sullivan, Magnes Tinti, Mia Sullivan; a younger sister, Lenore Finseth; a good friend and hunting partner, Ray Poisson; many nieces and nephews.
Orville was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kristin Hatle; two brothers, Ellsworth Hatle, Noel Hatle; three sisters, Ardis Madson, Ruby Wagner, and infant sister, Lucille Hatle.
Pallbearers will be Sean and Ryan Sullivan, Gabriel and Benjamin Tinti, Anthony Moraska, Daniel Juckel, and Jake Carpenter.

Visitation and celebration of Orville's life will be Sunday, April 11, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate. Burial will be in Hematite Twsp. Cemetery, Amasa, Mich.
