Oliver E. Clement, 86, of Crystal Falls, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born August 26, 1920, in Caspian, son of the late Thomas and Alphonsie (Verville) Clement. On July 3, 1948, he married Ann Rose Meinolf at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Northland and last summer celebrated their 58th anniversary. She survives. Oliver graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1940. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Signal Corps in the European Theater, Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was discharged as a Corporal in 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Louis Bowman Post 87, Crystal Falls. Oliver worked in area mines for several years and worked with the section crew for the Milwaukee Road until he became disabled. Survivors include his wife, Ann Rose Clement, Mansfield; three sons, Thomas Clement, Mansfield, James Clement, Ralph, William Clement, Mansfield; two daughters, Margaret (Rusty) Campbell, Hillsdale, Laura Lee (Doug) Wagner, Porterfield, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Jessea Campbell, Joe Campbell, Tim Campbell, Jamie Wagner, Jacob Wagner, Katie Wagner, Becky Wagner; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Jasmine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas and Albert Clement; and four sisters, Lillian Ashby, Laura Clement, Agnes Butler, and Marion Niemi. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2007, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Channing. Rev. Richard J. Mroz will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. The East Side Veterans Council will accord military rites.
