She was born September 7, 1954, in Milwaukee, daughter of Betty (Alley) Prohaska and the late Frederick Prohaska. Norma grew up in Milwaukee and attended school at St. Leo's Catholic School, where she was baptized and received her First Holy Communion. She married her one and only sweetheart, Vietnam War veteran, Vernon Schuls on October 21, 1972, at the Sagola Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1991.
Norma and Vernon resided in Florence. Norma attended Bay de Noc Community College where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1992. After graduation, Norma worked for the Community Hospital in Crystal Falls and later at the Iron County General Hospital, retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, cooking, spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and sharing the art of crocheting with many.
Norma was a very special person who was caring and loving and would always remember the less fortunate. She supported "Feed the Children" and the St. Jude Society, sending donations monthly.
