Nicholas Babladelis, 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain.
He was born September 2, 1925, in Sault St. Marie, Mich., son of the late Alexander and Panayota (Prokas) Babladelis. He married Anastasia Sarandis September 26, 1948 in Illinois. They lived in Milwaukee, Wis., Illinois, and Manistique, Mich., before moving to Iron Mountain in 1968.
Nicholas was a member of St. Mary Orthodox Church, Iron Mountain, Iron Mountain/Kingsford Masonic Lodge, Ahmed Shrine Temple, Marquette, Mich., Jesters, Iron Mountain VFW, DAV, and American Legion.
He enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his wife, Anastasia, Nicholas is survived by four children, Paul (Tricia) Babladelis, Costa Rica, Marcus (Kathleen) Babladelis, Naperville, Ill., Jon Babladelis, Iron Mountain, Alexis (Michael) Babladelis, Ann Arbor, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Robert Babladelis, Nicholette Babladelis, Nicholas Babladelis, Gregory Nelson, Alexander Babladelis, John Smieska, Levi Merritt Babladelis, Angel Merritt Babladelis; one great-grandson, Ethan Babladelis; one brother, George Babladelis, Manistique; two sisters, Dr. Georgia Babladelis, Berkley, Calif., Helen Dickens, Centerville, Ind.; special friend, Lyle Jarvis; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The Trisagion Service will be celebrated 10:00 am Monday, August 13, 2007, at St. Mary Orthodox Church, Iron Mountain. Fr. Mark Hagan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northpointe Endowment Fund.
