Nellie Novey passed away on November 10, 2010, just one day shy of her 95th birthday. She was born on November 11, 1915, to Peter and Mary Bara. Her family was proud to be one of the original pioneers of Buck Lake. She was a founding member of St. Edwards Church in Alpha. Nellie worked as a waitress at several supper clubs and was a fixture at Club Felix for thirty-six years until her retirement at age 76. She was the waitress everyone wanted as their server. Nellie's family would like to thank the staff at the Iron County Medical Care Facility for their compassionate and excellent care. "We were blessed to have her with us for all these years. We will cherish Nellie's memory and she will live forever in our hearts." She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Ernest Novey; one son, Peter Novey; one grandson, Ernest Novey, III; one great-grandson, Adam Novey; and one great-granddaughter, Amy Lipske; three sisters, Ann Manko, Patty Skibo , and Dorothy Dunbar; two brothers, Louis Bara and Egnatz Bara. Nellie is survived by two sons, Ernest (Barbara) Novey, Denver, Colo.; Paul (Lynda) Novey, Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Joan Lipske, Wood Dale, Ill. and Mary Lee (Bill) Wallace, Mesa, Ariz.; six grandsons, Douglas Lipske, Wood Dale, Ill., Ben (Dianne) Novey, Loveland, Colo., Bert Novey, Garland, Tex., Marc Novey, Fort Collins, Colo., David (Anna) Wallace, Andrews, Tex., John-Paul (Janice) Wallace, Mesa, Airz.; two granddaughters Angeline (Frank) Brown, Garland, Tex., Katherine Novey, Fort Collins, Colo., She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; four sisters, Helen Opolka, Iron Mountain, Mich., Agnes Bjork, Alpha, Mich., Vicky (Dan) Zini, Iron Mountain, and Pauline (Ken) Sypal ,Glen Ellyn, Ill., many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Private family services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to the Iron County Medical Care Facility or a charity of your choice.
