Florence- Neil J. Vassar, age 48, of Florence, Wis., passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Bellin Health Oconto Hospital, Oconto, Wis.

He was born August 29, 1970, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of Donald and Marion (Johnson) Vassar. Neil attended school in Florence and graduated from Florence High School, class of 1988. He worked for Pride Manufacturing Company, Florence, Schultz Equipment, Iron Mountain, and then owned and operated Nelbuds Bar, Florence, for three years. Most recently Neil has been working for his lifelong friend Chase Erickson at Wild River Realty.

Neil enjoyed hunting, fishing, time he spent with his family, especially his mother.

He is survived by his mother, Marion Vassar, Florence, Wis.; six brothers, Lloyd (Josette) Vassar, Greendale, Wis., Donald (Paula) Vassar, Florence, Wis., Gary Vassar, Iron Mountain, Mich., Rudy (Lisa) Vassar, Florence, Wis., Lawrence (Lauri) Vassar, Florence, Wis. and Steve Vassar, Florence, Wis.; four sisters, Vivian (Jim) Johnson, Crystal Falls, Mich., Donna (Jim) Gunville, Niagara, Wis., Debbie (Jim) Joslyn, Thomasville, Georgia, and Marion (Matt) D'Agostino, Florence, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Neil is preceded in death by his father, Donald Vassar; and one brother, Ronald Vassar.
