Jul 21, 1931 — Apr 19, 2018
Florence-Nancy J. Kloppenburg, age 86, of Spread Eagle, Wis., passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Freeman Nursing and Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.
She was born July 21, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wis., daughter of the late Anthony and Eleanor (Bliss) Erickson. Nancy grew up in Milwaukee, and was a graduate of Bay View High School, Class of 1949. In 1953 she married Robert Kloppenburg in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in August of 1996. They resided in Milwaukee before moving to New Berlin, Wis. in 1961. She and Robert built a vacation home in Spread Eagle, Wis. in 1977 where she later moved in 2002.
Nancy was a secretary at Saratoga Grade School in Waukesha from 1967 until her retirement in 1994. She enjoyed going to the casino.
She is survived by her son, Scott Kloppenburg, Spread Eagle, Wis.
My mom was quite a woman. She had that quirky, special nature shown by that ever-present twinkle in her eye. Always ready to laugh or kid, she loved fun. The only time that twinkle disappeared was when someone got between her and her favorite slot machine! Staff at Freeman's said she was "one of a kind".
She selflessly gave me love from the first stirrings in the womb to our final embrace. I was so blessed to have her as a mother and can only hope to honor her by passing that love forward. I will love you always mom-all I can!
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by brother, Robert Erickson and sister, Ruth Distenfeld.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 308 Florence Avenue, Florence, Wis.
