Myrtle Schiavo, 97, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Northstar Health System, Iron River.
She was born July 12, 1914, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Charles and Fredericka (Forsberg) Johnson. Myrtle married William Mackie and he preceded her in death in April of 1953. She then married Clarence Schiavo and he preceded her in death in September of 1967.
Myrtle was a hard worker and a great housekeeper and cook, known for her spaghetti, lasagna, and other birthday meals she made for her family. She loved spending time with family and friends and visiting her daughter in Arizona.
She will be remembered by those who knew her as a humble, honest, and proud person. Myrtle was a special lady, mother, grandmother, and friend, who was always a joy to be around with her great character and tremendous voice of reason.
Myrtle is survived by one daughter, Doreen (Rudolph) Dalpra, Safford, Ariz.; four sons, William, Jr. (Patti) Mackie, Thomas Mackie, Mike (Susan) Schiavo, Mark (Carla) Schiavo, all of Crystal Falls; eight grandchildren, Brian, Hope, Nathan, Amy, Sarah, Jody, Kristine, Jenny; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and both husbands, Myrtle was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivar, Harold, and Carl; two sisters, Mildred and Agnes; two infant children, Jeanie and Brian.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
