Myra Kay Sleik, 50, of Kingsford, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Marquette General Healthcare System, Marquette.
She was born April 20, 1960, in Crystal Falls, Mich., daughter of James and Marie (Rosenlof) Burns. Myra grew up in Sagola, Mich., and graduated from North Dickinson High School, Class of 1979. She married Robert Sleik on June 13, 1980, in Iron Mountain. They resided in Sagola for a few years before moving to Iron River, Mich., and most recently to Kingsford.
Myra loved going to the casino, picking berries, and trout fishing. She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen making salsa, strawberry jam, and apple butter.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Sleik, Sr.; one daughter, Barbara Ann (Tim) Hansard, Tasmania, Australia; one son, Robert Sleik, Jr., Kingsford; mother, Marie Burns, Powers, Mich.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Douglas, Sr. and Gloria Sleik, Breitung Township; two sisters, Rita (Larry) Dugree, Hermansville, Mich., Susan Ackerman, Iron Mountain; two brothers, Patrick Burns, Iron Mountain, Tim Burns, Stanley, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Gerri (Tim) Casey , New Hampshire, three brothers-in-law, Douglas (Mary) Sleik, Jr., Menominee, Mich., Dean Sleik, Breitung Twsp.; Steven Sleik, Appleton, Wis.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Myra was preceded in death by her father, James Burns.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2010, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate. Burial will be in Sagola Twsp. Cemetery, Channing.
