Milton E. Barglind, age 89, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born November 30, 1917, in Perkins, Mich., son of the late Edward and Ida (Backlund) Barglind. He married Rose McCauley March 22, 1947 in Menominee, Mich. They moved to Quinnesec and have resided there since.
Milton served in the US Coast Guard from August 4, 1944 to 1946. He worked at the NOW Paper Mill for 34 years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; four sons, Brian (Amy) Barglind, Kingsford, Neil (Roseanna) Barglind, Quinnesec, Barry (Denise) Barglind, Breitung Township, Kevin (Mary) Barglind, Iron Mountain; one daughter, Illana (Randy) Mashak, Columbia, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Mary Molin, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Milton was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Nordman; two nieces, Phyllis DeLaire, Jeanine Petschke; and one brother-in-law, Leonard Nordman.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2007, 10:30 am – 11:00 am, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec. A memorial service will be 11:00 am at the church, Cynthia E. Cowen, licensed lay minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
