Mildred A. "Millie" Phillips, 88, of Kingsford, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, at Evergreen Assisted Living, Kingsford.
She was born January 10, 1925, in Pickford, Mich., daughter of the late Melvin and Bernice (Hazen) Daley. Millie grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School. She married Jack Phillips on January 29, 1945, in Dyersburg, Tenn. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Keel Ridge Motel, which later became the Days Inn, of Iron Mountain.
Millie was very active in the local A.A. organization, where she earned her 20 year medallion. She enjoyed running the Keel Ridge Motel, watching birds and wildlife. Millie was an avid reader and loved listening to audio books.
She is survived by one son, Stephen (Patti) Phillips, Homestead, Wis.; two grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas Phillips, and three great-grandsons, Liam, Max and Jake.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on November 9, 2005.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, 2:30p.m. at the funeral home, Larry Neargarth will officiate. Burial will be at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
