Mildred M. Koziatek, 88, of Buck Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Iron County Medical Care Facility. She is now with her beloved husband, Bill.
Millie was born on October 6, 1933, in Alpha to the late Ted and Mary (Ball) Gryczan. Millie graduated salutatorian from Alpha Porter School, class of 1951. Following high school, she moved to Chicago and worked at Motorola.
Millie married Bill Koziatek on June 6, 1953, in Chicago. They moved to Buck Lake full-time in 2003 to enjoy their retirement. Bill preceded her in death on September 12, 2016.
Millie was a charter member of the Alpha Historical Museum and was awarded The Certificate of Appreciation in 2014 for her volunteerism by the Iron County Museum. She was also in charge of the annual bake sale to raise money for the Alpha Historical Museum.
Millie was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunty, and friend to so many. Millie's true love in life was caring for her husband and children. She loved being in the kitchen. Her passion was baking, and she gave her bakery away to everyone in town! Pepsi cake and kolacky were the favorites. She loved people, and they loved her right back. She had a way of making others feel good about themselves. Her favorite stomping ground was The Village Inn in Alpha, where she enjoyed her morning coffee with all her friends and relatives. Millie was the life of any party. She always made people laugh, and her hugs were the best.
She is survived by two sons, Randy (Gina) Koziatek of Salt Lake City, UT and Kevin Koziatek of Wheaton, IL; three daughters, Debbie (Rich) Marx of Wheaton, IL; Judy (Ken) Kubica of Warrenville, IL; Sandy (Jeff) Armstrong of Wheaton, IL; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; brother Louis Gryczan; sister Irene Daul and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband Bill, Millie was preceded in death by her brothers Walter and Chester Gryczan, sisters Lillian Ostrega, Alice Ostrega, and Dorothy Skibo.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with the prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The family respectfully asks that masks be worn.
Memorials may be made to the Alpha Historical Museum, P.O. Box 7, Alpha, MI 49902 in Millie's memory.
