Michael J. Zarzycki, 66, of Florence, Wis., passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009, in Florence. He was born February 13, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. son of the late Michael and Stephanie (Stancek) Zarzycki. Michael grew up in Chicago and graduated from East Leyden High School, in 1960. Michael married the former Peggy Bellow on August 1, 1970, at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, Bellwood, Illinois. Michael served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968. He then went on to attend Triton College where he received an Associate Degree in Business Finance. Michael worked many years in banking prior to settling in Florence where he worked as Executive Vice President at the State Bank of Florence. He was a member of the Florence Lions Club, Florence County Business League, and served as treasurer of the Keyes Lake Association. Michael enjoyed planting trees, spending time in nature, caring for his hobby farm, boating, and traveling. Michael is survived by his wife, Peggy; two sons, Michael (Dana) Zarzycki, Melbourne, Australia; Marc Zarzycki, Green Bay, Wis.; one daughter, Dana (Casey) Franklin, Merritt Island, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth Zarzycki, Melrose Park, Ill.; and one sister, Barbara Beilfuss, Franklin Park, Ill. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Zarzycki.
