Michael P. Kennedy, 62, of Alpha, Mich., passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 10, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton, Wis.
He was born July 3, 1948, in Mason, Mich., son of the late Wilfred and Delores (Wittika) Kennedy. Michael married Robin Green on June 25, 1970, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She survives.
Mike graduated from Mason High School Class of 1966. He served his country from 1968 to 1971 in the U.S. Army as a field doc in Vietnam. Mike moved with his family to Iron Mountain in 1976 and Iron County in 1980. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, a former member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Robin Kennedy, Alpha; two sons, Michael Peter "Pete" (Amy) Kennedy, Portage, Mich., James V. "Jimmy" (Julia) Kennedy, Rexburg, Idaho; nine grandchildren, Hayli, Shanrod, Brieanna, Tobin, Abbygayle, Meris, Molly, Gideon, Victoria; two brothers, R. Dale (Claire) Kennedy, Hermansville, Mich., James A. Kennedy, Mason; one sister, Meris (Dale) McCalla, Rossville, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
An Elder in and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at 2001 Woodward Ave., Kingsford, Mich. 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 with visitation starting at 6:00 p.m. Branch President Myron Berry will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family directs any memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka KS, in Michael's name.
