Meredith A. Hungate, 83, of Kingsford, Mich., passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2007, at St. Andrew's Village in Mahtomedi, Minn.
She was born March 18, 1924, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, daughter of the late William and Cora (Bacon) McKay. Meredith grew up in Iowa, graduating from Iowa State Teachers College, before making her way to the U.P.
Meredith was the ultimate "horse show mom" and was very active in the local community. She was involved in the Friends of the Museum/Historical Society, Memorial Hospital League, Camp Fire Girls, PTO Council, Family Ties, Caring House, Dickinson County Fair as Superintendent/Judge of the Antique Division, and the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann (Mike), and beloved 10 year old twin granddaughters, Molly and Sarah, all of Dellwood, Minn.
Visitation will be 9:30 am to 11:00 am, Friday, July 6, 2007, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
