Obituary

Matthew L. Rogers, 37, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 14, 1970, in St. Paul, Minn., son of Dennis and Clare (Trapp) Rogers. Matthew married Shari Rasinowich on September 23, 2000, at Faith Lutheran Church, Laurium, Mich. Matthew grew up in Rosemont, Minn., and graduated from Rosemont High School in 1988. He attended Michigan Technological University and graduated in 1992 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Matthew worked for Kmart Corporation, both in Iron Mountain, Mich. and Houghton, Mich., where he served as Manager. The last two years he was Manager of Staples Office Supply, Escanaba, Mich. He enjoyed many hobbies including, coin collecting, raising tropical fish, camping, sporting events, and computers. Besides his parents, and wife, Shari, Matthew is survived by two sons, Brian Rogers, Calumet, Mich., Jason Rogers, Niagara; one daughter, Jamie Rogers, Niagara; one brother, Mark (Jessi) Rogers, Minnetonka, Minn.; maternal grandmother, Iona A. Trapp, Twin Valley, Minn.; father and mother-in-law, Ernie and Mardel Rasinowich, Calumet; brother-in-law, John (Cara) Rasinowich, Calumet; two nephews, Andrew Rogers and Cole Rasinowich Matthew was preceded in death by an infant son, Phillip in 2001. Visitation will be Monday, May 28, 2007, from 9:00am to 11:00am, at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 11:00am, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kingsford, Mich. Deacon Bradley Lemke will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Calumet. A memorial will be established in Matthew's memory.
