Mary J. Southworth, 87, of Florence, Wis., passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.
She was born on September 9, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Thomas Brown and Grace (Fischer) Maxwell. Mary married Philip Southworth on September 18, 1945, in Evanston, Ill; he survives.
After being married, Mary and Philip resided in Grinnell, Iowa; Buhl, Idaho; and later Illinois where they resided in both Franklin Park and Hoffman Estates. They moved to Florence County in 1981.
She enjoyed many hobbies including reading, gardening, and especially admiring the view out of her front room window. Mary also enjoyed cats, especially her friend, Mazie.
Mary is survived by her husband, Philip; five sons, Donald (Marilyn) Southworth, Oak Park, Ill., Thomas (Linda) Southworth, Horicon, Wis., Richard (Barbara) Southworth, Hanover Park, Ill., Robert Southworth, Minneapolis, Minn., David (Joan) Southworth, Edina, Minn.; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Karl Southworth; and one brother Thomas Brown.
