Obituary

Florence: Mary R. McLain, 88, of Fence, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Dickinson County Healthcare Systems in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Mary was born October 17, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Macyowski) Majewski. Mary grew up in Armstrong Creek, WI, and on September 6, 1932, married Melvin E. McLain in Goodman, WI. After being married they resided in Fence, WI, Gary, Indiana, and eventually moved back to Fence in 1937. Melvin preceded her in death on March 4, 1989. Mary was a member of the Fence Union Church and also the Ladies Aid. She was a cook at Fence grade school for many years. She served as a Fire Warden for five years. She enjoyed gardening on the family farm and also crocheting, and doing arts and crafts. She is survived by three sons Clifford (Clara) McLain of Florence, WI, John (Joan) McLain of Armstrong Creek, WI, Jim (Donna) McLain of Laona, Wisconsin, three daughters Arlene (Pete) Alarid of Sante Fe, New Mexico, Donna (Edward) Garcia of Stockton, California, Nancy (Rusty) Bytell of Laona, Wisconsin, four brothers Chester (Mayme) Majewski, Frank Majewski, and Anton (Carol) Majewski of Armstrong Creek, Wisconsin, and Stanley (Audrey) Majewski of Florence, four sisters Helen Christonovich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pauline (Leo) Wolfson of Chicago, Illinois, Clara Wozniak of Armstrong Creek, Wisconsin, Ann (Chuck) Fenton of Los Angeles, California, thirty grandchildren and fifty-one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers John, Louis an infant brother Tony, an infant sister Cecilia, a grandson, Josh McLain, grand son-in-law Rodney L. Danielczak, Son-in-law William M. Darcy, and Daughter-in-law Carnell McLain. Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2003 from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Jacobs- Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wisconsin, and Saturday from 1 - 2 P.M. at the Fence Union Church, with funeral services at 2:00P.M. with Pastor Tim Smith officiating.
