Mary M. "Peggy" Jensen, age 57, of Florence, Wis., passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, unexpectedly in Appleton, WI at the home of her daughter Julianne.
She was born August 16, 1961, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of Phillip and Mary (Kelley) Gehlhoff. Peggy grew up in Florence and graduated from Florence High School, class of 1979. She went on to receive an Associate's degree in corrections and law enforcement from NWTC. She was employed by the Florence County Sheriffs Department serving in many positions over the years, including Deputy, Corporal, Jail Administrator, and most recently a Sergeant on road patrol. She retired July 1st of 2018 after 32 years of service. Peggy married Curt Jensen on September 26, 1992, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Florence. She was very active over the years; serving as a 4H leader, cheerleading coach, and was an active member with the Florence County Rescue Squad as an EMT member for many years.
Peggy enjoyed many hobbies over the years, in her early years while being active with the 4H she enjoyed the horses and dogs, going to camp, camping and fishing on the Canadian border waters with Curt and friends, gardening and especially the time spent with her family and grandchildren.
She will be remembered by many friends and coworkers for her bright and cheerful personality and for her caring ways toward all she knew personally and professionally.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 26 years Curt; her father, Phillip (Judy) Gehlhoff, Florence; her mother, Mary Gehlhoff, Florence; two daughters, Julianne (Jason) Augustyn, Appleton and Chelsea Jensen, Florence; one brother, James (Wendy) Gehlhoff, Florence; three grandchildren, Gavin John, Carter James and Vienna Christine; and two nieces, Gina May Gehlhoff and Alicia Joy Gehlhoff, both of Florence. Also survived by Great Aunt Hazel Gehlhoff, Uncle Edwin Kelley, Aunts Patty Prince, Kitty Kelley, Sandy Witynski, Judy Von Oepen and many cousins she loved dearly.
Peggy was preceded in death by her Grandparents Martha and Phil Gehlhoff, Helen and Gordon Kelley; father-in-law and mother-in-law Jack and Judy Jensen; and one beloved brother, John Gehlhoff.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Matt Ruesch will officiate.
