CRYSTAL FALLS — Mary T. Ghidorzi, 95, of Crystal Falls, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
Mary was born May 16, 1907, in South Range, daughter of the late Anton and Mary Toscana. She graduated from Jeffers High School and then went on to graduate from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Mary taught school in South Range, Perkins and also in Crystal Falls until the time of her retirement in 1969.
She married Joseph Ghidorzi on Sept. 21, 1940, and together they raised three sons. In 1990, Mary and Joseph celebrated 50 years together. Joseph passed away in 1995.
Mary was very active and was an avid traveler and bridge player, belonging to the Guardian Angels Church Guild, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). She played the organ and was the organist at Holy Family Church in South Range for 15 years.
Mary is survived by her three sons, Anthony (Kay) of Bartlett, Ill., Joseph (Carol) of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Charles (Mary Ann) of Wausau, Wis.; six grandchildren, Tony Jr., Denise, Casey (Cayman), Jessica, Brian (Tobi) and Chris (Hayley); one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Annette Paveglio of Saginaw, lower Michigan and Catherine (Bob) Romph of South Range.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Miglio and Margaret Simondi.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Ray Zuegner will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Guardian Angels Catholic Church in her memory.
