Florence:
Mary Avielyn Dumke, 65, Florence, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Mary was born November 15, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, daughter of the late Elmer and Henrietta (VanWoensel) Atchison.
She grew up in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from East Denver High School. In 1959, she married Ralph (Doc) Dumke Sr. in Illinois. They resided in Milwaukee for a short time before moving to Florence where she has since resided. Mary assisted many throughout the years, with her business and private bookkeeping skills. She, along with her husband, owned Dumke's Cottages and Dumke's Texaco Service Station. Mary was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Royal Order of the Eastern Star. She served many years as a Florence County School board member, a Florence County (4-H) Volunteer Horse and Dog Leader, on the Town of Florence Election Board and as a volunteer at the Florence Villa. Her joy in life came from her children, grandchildren and pets. Mary enjoyed her flowers and playing bingo with her friends.
Mary is survived by one son Don (Joy) Dumke of Florence, WI, four daughters Cinde Nichols of Florence, WI, Wendy (Jim) Fredericksen of Alpha, MI, Heidi (David) Del Debbio of Pembine, WI, Mary Eileen (Matt) Brunette of Aurora,WI, one brother Donald (Judy) Atchison of Gilbert, Arizona, eleven grandchildren Sean, KayCee, Michael, Sarah, Aubree, Cassie, Devin, Shelby, Sydnee, Hannah, and Shannon and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ralph ( Doc) Dumke Sr. in 1977.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, 2003, from 4 - 6P.M. at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 4, 2003, at 6P.M.
at Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home. Chaplain David Anderson will officiate.
