Obituary

Stonington, CT. Mary DeAmicis, 100, formerly a resident of Iron Mountain for 70 years, died August 3, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Stonington, CT, where she resided the past two and a half years. Mary was born in Veiano, Italy on February 19, 1903, daughter of the late Guiseppe and Olivia (Barvetti) Cavicchioni. She and her family, sister Rose (Castori) and brothers Orsio and Mariano Cavicchioni arrived in Iron Mountain on a snowy May 13 in 1913, at the age of ten. She was married on October 18, 1920, to Sebastian DeAmicis at the Immaculate Conception Church by Farther Jani. He preceded her in death in 1945. Mary had three daughters, Ann (Andrew) Corsi of Grand Blanc, MI, and their daughter Barbara Jean (Mariucci) and Charles Kinsman and grandchildren Tina, Francie and Jeff of Oscoda, MI and their daughter Deni (Larry) Furtick and grandchildren Amber, Chad, and Brittney all of Grand Blanc, MI; a daughter Olivia DeDonato of Florida and her two sons Michael (Ruth) Paquin of Bloomington, IL and grandchildren Andrea, Chad, Scott, and Morgan, and Patrick (Jean) Paquin of South Carolina and grandchildren Julie, Danny and Katherine; and daughter Frances (Anthony) Cecala and son Tony (Susan) and daughter Gina (Brian) Oleary, and numerous great great grandchildren. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma, enjoying baking and knitting many garments for all. In later years she was called upon to help at the Immaculate Conception Rectory for Father McCarthy and Father Geno Ferraro, taking care of their home and making her special meals for them. As she aged, she spent many years in sunny Florida, enjoying the ice free winters with her daughter Olivia. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 7, 2003, from 5- 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Prayers will be on Friday at 8:30a.m. at the Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 9:00a.m. with Msgr. James Kaczmarek officiating. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
