Mary Coombs, 99, of Iron Mountain, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara. She was born June 5, 1910, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Baldrica) Sacchetti. Mary married Douglas Coombs. He preceded her in death in 1976. Mary enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and babysitting. She was especially known for her authentic Italian cooking. Mary was a homemaker and an active member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. She is survived by one grandson, Randal Alan (Patricia) Middlin, Vassar, Mich.; three great-grandsons, Paul William (Jennifer) Middlin , Lansing, Mich., David Alan (Kimberly) Middlin, Ypsilanti, Mich., Thomas Douglas (Meredith ) Middlin, Saginaw, Mich.; four great great-grandchildren, Eleanor, William, Wesley, and Isabella Middlin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Douglas Coombs, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Middlin, on March 6, 2008; four sisters, Irene Orazi, Olga Jiombolini, Josephine Marianni, Susie Casini; and three brothers, Louis, Domenic, and Joseph.
