Obituary

Marlene Frances Hayes, 75, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. She was born August 23, 1937, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Lucille (Trevillian) and John Mikolajczyk. Marlene was a lifelong resident of the area. She dedicated her life to helping others throughout her 25 year career at St. Vincent De Paul, volunteer work at nursing homes, and her willingness to do anything for her friends and family. Marlene enjoyed watching MSU basketball, baking, working in her yard, and visiting with friends. She was a very caring and compassionate person. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amy Hayes Baranski, Royal Oak, Mich.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including the Despins, Ron and Debbie Flannery, Cathy Lehto, Mae Chartier, Jody Plonke, Rose Bubloni, Fran Orler, and her two special "grandchildren" Danielle and Mallory Flannery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Mikolajczyk, and sister, Patricia Ray. The visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 2013, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The memorial service will be 6:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Timothy E. Ekaitis will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Cemetery, Norway, in the spring.
