Obituary

Marlene (Bovee) Chartier, 75, of Niagara, Wis., passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. She was born January 27, 1935, in Niagara, daughter of the late Edward Harold and Florence (Perron) Bovee. Marlene married John "Jack" Chartier on April 25, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2005. Marlene was employed as Postmaster of the United States Postal Service, Niagara, and retired from there in 1992. She enjoyed wintering in Florida. Marlene had a love for antiques and finding her "treasures" while searching on the internet. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was well known for her chicken dumpling soup. Survivors include two sons, Steven (Gayle) Chartier, Scott Chartier; one daughter, Renee (Dean) Recla; eight grandchildren, Jon, Steven, Shawn, Shanna, and Nick Chartier, Robbie, Brent, and Adam Recla; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jan (Anita) Bovee, Gary Bovee; one sister, Carolyn (Ralph) Reimer; one brother-in-law, Robert (Bev) Chartier; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, May 31, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate.
