Obituary

Mark John VandenBush, 58, of Beecher, Wis., passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, after a long battle with cancer at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain. He was born May 2, 1951, in Green Bay, Wis., son of the late Ralph and Doris (Rentmeester) VandenBush. Mark served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 until 1971. He married the former Sue A. Schoen on May 1, 1987, in Green Bay. They resided in Green Bay until 2008, when they moved to Beecher. Mark owned and operated Duck Creek Windows and Doors in Green Bay for 15 years, until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, painting, wideling, and especially spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sue VandenBush, Beecher; his children, Tony (Jane) VandenBush, Iowa City, Iowa, Lisa (Greg) Prpich, Paw Paw, Mich., Jake (Kelly) VandenBush, Eau Claire, Wis., Mike Nys, Jr. (Gyla Morgan), Green Bay, Dawn (Phil) Baker, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Darrell (Laurie) VandenBush, Green Bay, Doug (Barb) VandenBush, New Franken, Wis., Ron (Jackie) VandenBush, Green Bay, David (Lynn) VandenBush, Wrightstown, Wis.; four sisters, Linda (Dave) Carlson, Phillips, Wis., Theresa (Red) Hegnet, Green Bay, Mary (Terry) Zellner, Luxemburg, Wis., Jodi (Rob) Stowe, Green Bay; four brothers-in-law, Bill (Ginny) Schoen, Appleton, Wis., Richard (JoAnn) Schoen, Mike (Darlene) Schoen, both of Green Bay, Randy (Dorothy) Schoen, Niagara, Wis.; seven sisters-in-law, Berdeen (John) Snyder, Las Vegas, Nev., Karen Lyng, Winter Springs, Fla., Mary (Horace) Morris, Terri (Marvin) Schmude, Patti (Scott) Lepp, all of Green Bay, Tina (Scott) Belongia, Beecher, Joan VandenBush, Luxemburg; many nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by one brother, Kelly VandenBush. Mark's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center Oncology department for their care and support. Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pembine. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Rev. Gene Wickman will officiate. American Legion Post No. 461, of Pembine, will accord military honors 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church. A memorial will be established in Mark's memory.
