Marjorie June (Hendricks) Burbey, 82, of Niagara, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Mary Hill Manor, Niagara, surrounded by her family.
Marge was born October 6, 1925, in Niagara, daughter of the late Henry and Iva (Thomas) Hendricks. She married John Burbey on January 12, 1944.
Marge graduated from Niagara High School in 1943. She and John raised their family in the Niagara area. Marge worked for the Niagara School District in the kitchen and later at the First National Bank of Niagara, where she retired after 25 years. Marge enjoyed swimming, sewing, cooking, bowling, knitting, fishing, camping, Packer Parties with her friends and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Niagara her entire life.
Marge is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Dr. Mark (Kim), Neenah, Wis., Brian (Sue), Omro, Wis.; two daughters, Rosalie Ponzio (Dawn Egan), Marshall, Wis., Laura (Dan) Steeno, Florence, Wis.; six grandchildren, Mark Burbey, II, Patrick Ponzio, Nicole (Ponzio) Ralph, Megan Burbey, Gavin Burbey, Britan Burbey; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Katie and Olivia Ralph, Kyan and Kenna Ponzio; two brothers, James (Nyna) Hendricks, Henry "Chummy" Hendricks; three sisters-in-law, Jeanne Hendricks, Madeline Hendricks, Marni (Dr. Robert) Feulner; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Judy) Burbey, David (Suzanne) Burbey; many nieces and nephews; she is also survived by her dog, Sparky, a very devoted companion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Iva Hendricks; three sisters, Elizabeth Becker, Ruth Phillips, Joyce Smith; three brothers, Commodore Hendricks, Kenneth Hendricks, August Hendricks; three brothers-in-law, Eldon Becker, Jesse Phillips, C. Dwayne Smith; two sisters-in-law, Janet Hendricks and Lydia Hendricks.
Marge's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mary Hill Manor for the exceptional care they provided Marge over the last year, and also a special thank you to her friend, Allyn Kleiber, for her gentle care and dedication to Marge and for everything she has done not only for Marge but for the family. Visitation will be Monday, August 11, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. The funeral service will be Monday, 11:00 AM at Riverside United Methodist Church, Niagara. Pastor Koychul Shin will officiate. A luncheon, at the church, will be provided immediately following the service with burial at the Niagara Cemetery following the luncheon.
