Marilyn Marie McNeil, 72, of Crystal Falls, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Northstar Health Systems, Iron River, of complications due to pancreatic cancer.
She was born February 24, 1937, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Charles Zdravecky and Caroline (Davis) Wierikko. Marilyn graduated from Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1955, and went on to complete a program in Detroit to become a laboratory technician.
Marilyn married Malcolm McNeil on September 6, 1958, and together they raised four children: Susan Lehto, Diane Emo, Nancy Francisco, and Scott McNeil. She is fondly remembered as a Christian, a loving wife, a dedicated daughter, a treasured mother and grandmother, a good friend, and a dynamic woman who loved living at Long Lake.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxillary, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Crystal Falls. Marilyn worked at Crystal Falls Community Hospital and later at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She also managed the books for McNeil Mobil Service for many years.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Malcolm McNeil; her children, Susan (David) Lehto, Diane (Rob) Emo, Nancy (Bob) Francisco, all of Crystal Falls, Scott McNeil, Milwaukee, Wis.; her grandchildren, Leighann, Alex, Amanda, Tony, Brian, James, Mindy, Jacob, Daniel, Matthew, and Danielle; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Zdravecky, in 1941; her step-father, Jacob Wierikko, in 1998; and her mother, Caroline Wierikko, in 2006.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, at the United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. A private family memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. The family will receive friends, following the service, at the family home on Long Lake.
