Margaret "Maggie" Teikari, 87, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Northstar Health System, Iron River, Mich.
She was born October 29, 1926, in Iron River, daughter of the late Anton and Anastasia (Prsybylski) Chmielewski. Maggie graduated from Iron River High School and worked in the area for many years.
Maggie lived in Northern Michigan and Wisconsin all of her life. She enjoyed nature, watching and feeding animals and birds, picking berries, and spending time with her beloved companion, Ziggy. Maggie also enjoyed reading and crafts. She was a loving mother who cared for her family and others. Maggie was a kind, generous woman who will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Greg) Klein, Republic, Mich.; one son, Robert (Deidre) Teikari, Florence, Wis.; six sisters, Helen Jones, Iron River, Dorothy Bonen, Boulder, Colo., Rose French, Hartland, Wis., Lillian Moran, Potomac, Md., Nancy (Paul) Lazeau, Rivieria Beach, Fla. and Betty Arnold, Thomson, Ga.; one brother, Tony (Myrene) Chmielewski, Ely, Minn. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Maggie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Weikko; two children, Andrew and Evelyn; one sister, Stella and two brothers, Joseph and John Chmielewski.
In accordance with Maggie's wishes graveside services will be held in the spring at the Stambaugh Cemetery. Memorials can be made to any local animal shelter in her memory.
